P.T.G.D.- Post-Traumatic Gallagher Disorder
quick! are adam and i at a klan rally or gallagher show?
answer- gallagher show. though the similarities were striking!
my friend sean mccarthy, blogged about the night on his awesome blog http://thecomicscomic.typepad.com/... so read that to get the full run down.
i'm still a little scarred and shaky, so i'll just tell you the lowlights i remember.
-he took his shirt off his 61-year old body three times.
-he called himself a "legend of comedy" even though the show was one of the most unprofessional things i've ever seen. apparently, it goes over HUGE in Boise, Idaho. you know what else goes over huge in Boise, Idaho? yummy militia action!
-he continually talked about how the french words we use are making us into "sissies". 1957? yeah, you want your homophobic word back?
-he referred to an asian person as an ORIENTAL. like a rug. "ORIENTAL???", i shouted in my most obnoxious "what IS this?" voice.
-he had a plate of matzo balls (for the jews, evidently) and a plate of sauerkraut (for the germans) and said, "we better not put these next to each other on the table." hitler-arious!
-he hinted at the big finale of smashing a bottle of Scope and didn't do it.
-he told us he would "teach us how to think". i just wanted to learn how to ride an oversized big wheel and smash mayonaise.
-he threw a guy and his girlfriend out and the boyfriend return to kick Gallagher's ass. see the videos below for that loveliness.
-he completely belittled the comedians that HAD TO PLAY THE SHOW BECAUSE GALLAGHER COULD NOT SELL OUT A 300 SEAT THEATER in NEW YORK! the comedians brought in 100 people and so in front of their friends and family, Gallagher coached them and showed them up and made them look awful... GALLAGHER!
-our group of friends could not believe how much of a trainwreck the night was. we stumbled to a bar and sat there shell-shocked.
-i will never be the same.
my pics are here
marianne (the angel who got us the free tickets) has her pics here and her videos of his ranting and raving here and here
my friend elliot interviewed the man for the apiary...the non-sensical interview can be read here and here
luckily, the rest of my weekend was filled with friends, rest, compassion and strength in the face of unspeakable violence, bowling, karaoke, church and the companionship of strong, non-rascist, calm, loving people.
peach out.
WHAT A MONSTER!!!!!!!!
(Nate texted me, furious!)

I never did say I would tell you so, but I told you so. But I am not entirely evil: I feel for you, and I wish were 'still' there to console you in your times of need. See you soon.

I think Gallagher was put in a horrible situation. He was only trying to help the opening acts that were dying out there. How can you put on a performance with hecklers and people talking and making noises through the show? I have been a long time fan and I still am. All comedians make jokes about other races and such. Gallagher isn't all about the smash, I heard him on Howard Stern and it was fantastic. I think you are completely blowing the situation out of proportion.
